Adam Jail

I can't believe how big Adam is getting. The other day while I was trying to get supper made and deal with all of the after school drama Adam was quite fussy. He didn't want to sit in his highchair or on the ground. I had full hands and couldn't hold him so I tried something new. I had been doing laundry all day and had an empty laundry basket in the kitchen so in the basket he went. You would have thought that I had introduced the most excting new toy on the planet. He loves sitting in the laundry basket. Who would have thought. I think that he looks like he is in baby jail but he thinks it's great. I gave him some toys and he was happy for so long. I love how easy it is to please little ones. I wish that adults were that easy to please. Here is Adam in the laundry basket. I just hope that he doesn't start pulling himself up or I think he'll flip himself right out of that basket. It makes me so sad to see how fast he is growing.
Brady decided he needed to get in on the action too but the basket just wasn't quite big enough for the 2 of them.You've got to love his grape pop mustache, it just adds that little bit of class, don't you think?
Adam has also just experienced his first taste of spaghetti last night. He loved it. He sure doesn't like baby food but if it tastes as bad as it smell I don't blame him. I'm going to have to start mashing up all our food for the picky boy. He just seem to be getting bigger and bigger everyday.

Fun Games

This last week with all of the sick kids in our house we have discovered some new games. The first one the kids, especially Brady, have been playing is Don't spill the Beans. I've seen it before at Walmart and such but now that we have been playing it the kids love it!

The other new game we got is made by Cranium and is called Cariboo. I can't believe how much fun it is. I'm not sure if it is new to stores or has been around for awhile but I had never seen ti before until last week. It's great for kids with recognizing numbers and letters and colors. There are advanced and beginner levels. The kids sat and played it for 2 hours on Saturday. I didn't even know our kids could sit for that long.

Hot Chocolate

I read this on my friend tasha's blog and had to share it with all of you. Thank-you Tasha for the great reminder of what's really important in life. I really needed this reminder today. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Hot Chocolate
A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said: "Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups. Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us. God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups. The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have. Live simply. Love generously. It's been a long time since I've posted anything. Things have been tough going in the Holladay household for the last couple of weeks. Adam is still struggling with ear infections and Halle has been sick since last Friday. I have been attempting to decontaminate my house but haven't quite figured our how to go about that. Although I now have all clean linens on our beds and have thorougly washed walls and any surface that the kids may possibly touch. Hopefully that gets rid of all the germs. So our week off from school has been filled with quiet days of watching movies and lots of naps for the kids. Atleast Halle got sick during vacation instead of having to miss school. She would have hated that.
How was Valentine's Day for everyone? Ours was quiet, we ordered in and just stayed home but it was nice not to have to fight crowds. Kyle gave me some beautiful orchids that I absolutely love, we'll see how long it takes me to kill them with my black thumb.

As a perk for the kids and to try to combat all the fevers I got them some popsicles, i know popsicles in February is crazy, Adam got totry his first popsicle, he thought it was the best thing he'd ever tasted. Doesn't he look sweet?

Things are staring to get back to normal around here so hopefullt I will have more exciting things to post about soon. We miss you all! Have a great day.

Breaking Dawn

As many of you know I am a huge fan of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series of books well yesterday they made the announcement that book 4 " Breaking Dawn" will be released on August 2. It feels like so long to wait but I am sure it will be worth it. Just thought I would pass it along

Last week

THis last week has been a little difficult at our house. I definitely think that motherhood is not for the faint of heart. I have spent the last week wanting to cry all day for my kids and to somehow take away all the pain that comes with life. Halle had to have a tooth pulled. She lost her first tooth right after she turned 5. The adult tooth grew in but it was very crooked. The last time she went to the dentist he did an xray and it turned out that she had an extra tooth so they needed to pull that tooth out to make way for the real adult tooth to come in. The tooth pulling was excruciating. We basically ahd to hold her down just to get the freezing in and the actual tooth pulling was awful. It's areally good thing there were no other kids in there at the time because I have never heard screaming like that. Now Halle has no teeth because she has lost 2 more within the last week . We keep teasing her that she is going to have to eat Adam's baby food.

Adam has had a very tough time as well. But thakfully today he seems to be feeling a bit better. I don't know about me though. I feel like I am the worst mother in the world for not getting him checked out sooner. I've got to say thank-you to our good friend( who lucky for us is a wonderful doctor) Ryan for being so willing to check him out for us. Although I am sure he now thinls I am the worst parent on the planet. But regardless THANK-YOU Ryan!!!!!

On Wednesday night Granny and Papa( Kyle's Mom and Dad) came out to help finish framing our new bathroom ( will post about that later) and also brought Adam this cute sweater that Granny had made. It is absolutley adorable and so warm. Thanl-you for the beautiful gift. We will make great use of it in our cold Alberta winter.

Adam's First Bubblebath

Last night I decided to give Adam his first bubblebath. He has been struggling with an ear infection for the past few miserable days. I thought it might be fun for him. He loved it. He was fascinated by the bubbles and how they felt in his fingers. I think he ate more bubbles than anything but the poor little guy deserved some fun after all the medicine and crying. Adam absolutely adores his older brother. Brady provides him with so much entertainment. He was going for the Santa beard look here. Bubble baths are a hit but I think we will have to limit Adam. I don't want him consuming too many bubbles in one shot.
